By admin • April 29th, 2009

Texas News: UIL says no athletic activity until May 11th. The University Interscholastic League had decided to suspend all athletic activity in the state of Texas until May 11th. This is due to the current swine flu outbreak affecting Mexico, Texas, and other states.

The University Interscholastic League has suspended all athletic activity throughout Texas until May 11 because of the swine flu outbreak. The decision was made after consulting with the Texas Department of Health Services, and the Texas Education Agency.

“The health and safety of our student activity participants is of the utmost importance,” UIL executive director Charles Breithaupt said in a statement.

The agency also suspended non-athletic events, including the Academic State Meet and the Texas State Wind Ensemble festival.

The idea was to take every possible precaution to prevent the further spreading of this disease. We wanted to alter the schedule of our events in a way to keep our participants safe.

Upcoming track, baseball and football will be greatly affected by this. Check the schedules Here.
