Dr. Dean Edell Says Swine Flu is mostly mild

I was listening to Dr. Dean Edell last night on my satellite radio (XM/Sirius) which I love by the way. Well to avoid confusion on this point, I love to listen to both Dr. Dean Edell and my satellite radio. You can really get a better idea as to what is going on in this country, and it is way more than what is Britney Spears going to do next, or how is life treating Jessica Simpson.

No, we have some real issues, and fears going on in this country and one of them is the potential swine flu epidemic. Now, I live in Texas which, if you check a map, is right next to Mexico. And they say the swine flu is being generated in Mexico. I have seen some reports just today in the news that suggests that Ohio schools, New York schools and now a few Texas schools are closing due to swine flu illness. I have yet to figure out which Texas schools are closed down, but I will make a special report as soon as I discover it.

Well, when asked on last nights call in show, a lady called in and asked if going to El Paso would be dangerous. Dr. Dean Edell said, “well, unless something new is happening that I haven’t heard of today, I would say you have more to worry about getting injured in an auto accident.” The preceding is paraphrased.

So, we don’thave much to worry about, was the reply from the lady. He answered by basically saying that although flu is dangerous and kills about 3,500 people a year all over the USA, it harms older people, in poor health. So he basically said not to worry, for most people it is a mild event. But, of course that could all change.

So I guess that about sums it up for right now.
